How to paint tiles

Here we will see how to paint tiles. tile painting
There are a multitude of solutions, most of the options offered are generally supplied with single-component paints. These paints often lack adhesion and resistance over time.
This is why we will only talk about paint based on two-component epoxy resin here. Whether for a bathroom, kitchen or laundry room floor, these epoxy resins resist cleaning products and abrasion.

The most important thing in every painting job is preparation. The main problem that can arise is poor adhesion, often due to poor preparation.
We will list below the necessary steps for a quality and lasting result:

  1. Preparation
If you have silicone gaskets in your room, remove them. Paints do not adhere to silicone. In addition, the final result will be much more beautiful with redone joints on the new layers of paint.
  2. Cleaning
It is important to clean the surface. The surface must be descaled and degreased. With epoxy resins, do not use powder paint detergent. A phosphoric acid-based descaler or even phosphoric acid diluted to 20% will be very effective. Once rinsed well to remove all leftover products, use rubbing alcohol or acetone to ensure that you no longer have any greasy parts.
  3. Protection
Apply the necessary tapes and protections.
  4. Paint
Current epoxy resin-based paints provide exceptional adhesion and scratch resistance far superior to single-component products.

Pay attention to the paint-hardener ratio, generally 50% for these resins (1 kg of paint for 500 g of hardener). For preparation, a small kitchen scale and a small empty container will do the trick. The mixture made should not be used for more than 3 hours. In order not to prepare too much paint at once, a simple calculation allows you to prepare the right amount per coat. Number of m2 * 150 g = quantity of paint required per coat.
  5. Generally two coats are sufficient. For these resins, drying for 16 to 18 hours is necessary.

Repair
After drying, remove the protections immediately to avoid glue deposits. Redo your silicone joints if necessary.

And There you go ! Be gentle with your new paints the first few days. These take 7 days to obtain their final strength.
