Baking soda is used for laundry and household cleaning, as well as for hygiene, personal care, and cooking. It's a cleaning agent, similar to a scouring powder for bathtubs and sinks, a fabric softener, a water softener, and a deodorizer for carpets, rugs, and refrigerators. In the garden, it can be used as a fungicide.
Some precautions for use:
Do not use technical grade, food grade, pharmaceutical grade, or cosmetic grade baking soda. Each grade has its own level of purity! Do not ingest large quantities. It is not suitable for aluminum surfaces, nor for washing wool and silk. It should not be refrigerated or stored in a metal container. Baking soda can be stored for years away from moisture.
