natural pigment powder: Yellow Ocher JCL
The yellow ocher JCL (Jaune Clair Lavé) , extracted in our quarry in Gargas (Vaucluse), is of lower quality than the dark yellow ocher JFLES. Less fine, less loaded with iron oxide, it is what is called "the discovery". When the bulldozer begins to dig, it releases a first layer of ore: this is JCL yellow ochre.
This pigment is 100% natural.
Use : lime, wax, paint, plaster, fresco, glaze, cement, fine art, flour paint.
This pigment is powder. For use in artistic painting, it should be ground finely in a mortar before mixing it with the binder.
JCL yellow ocher mixed in linseed oil
Linseed oil: dissolve the powder in a little turpentine before incorporating it into the linseed oil.
Water paint / lime putty: dilute the pigment in a little water to make it liquid before incorporating it into the paint.
Powdered lime / cement / plaster: directly incorporate the pigment (up to 10% in relation to the weight of the binder), then mix so as to tint all of your binder.
Recommended dosage: The maximum dosage is 10% in relation to the binder used. Beyond 10%, it is recommended to incorporate fixatives and adjuvants (use of lime).
Colours : bright yellow ochre, a little more orange than JFLES, with a transparent binder. Ocher yellow / light orange with a white binder.
This pigment is 100% natural.
Made in France.
History : the yellow ocher JCL (Jaune Clair Lavé), produced by the Société des Ocres de France, is of lower quality than the dark yellow ocher JFLES. Less fine, less loaded with iron oxide, it is what is called "the discovery". When the bulldozer begins to dig, it releases a first layer of ore: this is JCL yellow ochre. The deeper you dig into the heart of the massif, the better the quality of the ore.
