When a house has been home to several generations, it is essential to treat and renovate it with the respect it deserves. In any case, this is the feeling that its owner had, who chose to renovate his house with a product almost forgotten (at least during its renovation in 2020) nowadays but used since Antiquity: Teodorico mortar by Novacolor.
The Teodorico Mortar
Teodorico is a coating composed of carefully selected lime hydrate, marble sand and mica. This composition gives it a nuanced appearance with hints of mica which binds to the color during application, offering a magnificent visual effect.
Colors Full of History
The colors chosen for this renovation are not trivial; each one tells a story:
Pink Brick Facade : In the past, crushed brick was added to mortar to give it a typical pale pink color. It is this historic color that was researched and reproduced here.
Woodwork in Charon Blue : The term "wheelwright" refers to the blue color formerly used to paint carts, serving as a repellent against insects. A similar blue was sometimes used on certain facades or vineyard sheds treated with copper sulfate by winegrowers.
